Agility opens new logistics centre in Hungary

Agility, which is a global logistics company, has opened a new freight services centre in the Hungarian capital Budapest.

The move has been made in light of the country's considerable growth potential and its location as an important centre for cross-border activities with other eastern European countries.

Keith Mahoney, general manager of Agility Hungary, said that the new centre was located within the Budapest Intermodal Logistics Centre complex, which afforded it access to the new MO ring motorway and the city's largest container rail yard.

Agility's logistics centre is also fairly close to Ferihegy airport and the Freeport of Budapest Csepel, which gives the company direct links to the inland waterway system throughout Europe.

The new centre comprises 15,000 m2 of warehousing space, of which an 850m2  area has been assigned for a full range of value-added services, such as light assembly, repair and maintenance, mix and matching/labelling etc.

Agility's decision to enter the Hungarian market follows its entry into Poland, Austria and Slovenia. It is a region that the company believes has interesting long term expansion  opportunities, although like most areas in the world economic growth has stalled since the summer.
